Top-five UK travel company Airtours has announced the PR results of

its plan to merge three key operating divisions.

Helen Stevenson Bulloch has been promoted from PR manager for Airtours

Holidays to be the first head of PR for the newly-merged charter and

retail distribution businesses.

The company plans to retain the three major brands at stake - Airtours

Holidays, Going Places and Travelworld. However, back office operations

for the three are to be merged at a new office in Lancashire.

Stevenson Bulloch will report to managing director Richard Carrick. She

is expected to work closely with the travel firm’s recently-appointed

director of group communications Anita McErlean (PR Week, June 9).

Stevenson Bulloch has been in post at the holidays division for more

than two years. Before that she was an account director at Manchester’s

Communique Public Relations handling work for Berghaus and

Allsports.

Her remit now covers PR for the three chains as well as internal

communications during the merger, which involves Going Places departing

its Surrey base and Travelworld and Airtours Holidays moving from nearby

Lancashire offices.

Before Stevenson Bulloch’s appointment, Going Places and Travelworld’s

PR functions had lapsed in the wake of an earlier wave of internal

consolidation which saw the two merge some operations last year. Three

staff were made redundant when this happened and have now left the

company.
