23 May I've been reading an interesting piece by Virginia Heffernan on The Death of the Open Web. She compares the move from open websites to the walled garden of apps to the move from cities to suburbs - and with some justification. After all, 55 million+ people with an iPhone or iPad are app users, alongside the Murdoch-led impetus for content paywalls to once again attempt to block off certain areas of the web for certain companies.

21 May Years ago, when I was bored travelling home I decided to text a load of my mates asking the question: 'How happy are you (out of 10)?'. I was surprised when loads of them replied, with reasons why they were happy/sad, which I then decided to collate with a happiness score and email around. This carried on for a few months and I thought it'd make a great PR idea.

20 May Last month, Altimeter Group's Jeremiah Owyang and Charlene Li hosted a webinar on 'Getting Your Company Ready for a Social Strategy'. It is a fantastic overview of the research and approaches all firms should employ as they tiptoe into these waters. Before you dive in, consider how much time went into the creation of this 45-slide presentation.
