Andy Wood, the former Northern Ireland Office director of
information, was named PR Professional of the Year at 1997 PR Week
Awards, held this week in London.
And European Commissioner for fisheries, consumer policy and
humanitarian aid, Emma Bonino, won the European Communicator award.
PR Week’s Campaign of the Year - plus the award for best charity and
non-commercial campaign and a commendation in the public affairs
category - went to the Royal British Legion for its campaign to revive
the two-minute remembrance silence at 11am on 11 November.
Hill and Knowlton emerged as Consultancy of the Year while Inchcape
walked away with the 1997 award for In-House Department of the Year. The
Best International Campaign went to British Airways for the relaunch of
its new corporate identity, and The Wright Partnership picked up the
Best Consumer award for its high profile launch of the Tamagotchi
- From this week, PR Week will be published in full colour. And the
Europe page has been extended to cover worldwide PR, with a new round-up
section called ’Borderlines’.
