The national tourism agency is launching the app for all smart phones. It will include a Google maps and Facebook integration system so users can find their favourite film locations, take a picture, and then post it on to social networking sites.

VisitBritain director of marketing Laurence Bresh said: 'Robin Hood and our new smart phone app are examples of how we can harness the imagery of films and the reach of digital media to promote Britain across the globe.'

Robin Hood is the latest in a line of film tourism campaigns carried out by VisitBritain. The Da Vinci Code, James Bond: Quantum of Solace and Sherlock Holmes have all been recent hits with international visitors looking to visit locations in the films.
