Diary: Lufthansa’s Lawrence gets some satisfaction from sharing his wealth of Rolling Stones trivia

Relief is at hand for those lined up in the all-day queues which

are bound to form when tickets go on sale for the UK leg of the Rolling

Stones’ Bridges to Babylon world tour this summer. Lufthansa’s corporate

communications head Dale Lawrence has just written a trivia quiz book on

the dinosaurs of British rock.

Lawrence tells me that he and his co-author, former People showbiz

columnist Sean Smith, came up with the idea for Stone Me! when they were

in a traffic jam trying to get out of Wembley stadium’s car park after

the last Stones gig, four years ago. They began quizzing each other to

relieve the boredom.

So which Stone said: ’I’ve never had a problem with drugs. I’ve had a

problem with the police’? Keith Richards, of course.

Unsurprisingly, Lawrence is a Stones addict: ’I’m probably the world’s

number one Stones fan,’ he says. ’I bought their first record when I was

ten. They kept me sane when I was at boarding school.’
