BRUSSELS: Volvo has hired Ogilvy PR Worldwide to handle a corporate

branding campaign across four countries.

Ogilvy’s Brussels office was appointed this month to co-ordinate the

account, which will be implemented by the network’s offices in Italy,

Sweden, Germany and possibly the UK. Ogilvy will work in conjunction

with Stockholm partner PiRho in Sweden.

The agency will work on a three-month project basis initially, running a

corporate branding campaign highlighting Volvo’s safety record, and

communicating messages about the quality and pleasure of driving its

cars in the consumer press. Ogilvy did not pitch for the account.

In February Shandwick public affairs was appointed by Volvo’s UK office

to raise the company’s profile on safety and environmental issues with

political audiences.

It has not been decided whether Ogilvy’s UK office will be retained

alongside Shandwick, although Volvo senior vice-president for corporate

communications Bodil Eriksson is keen to ensure that Ogilvy adds to the

work of local PR teams rather than replacing them.
