BT is searching to fill a newly-created pounds 80,000 a year post
of head of UK PR campaigns, as part of a move to make its UK
communications more proactive.
The PR campaigns head will report to corporate relations director Brenda
McAll, who oversees around 250 staff working in internal communications,
public affairs, community relations and PR.
The company has two separate PR divisions, one for its UK activities and
the other representing its interests as a group, across its main markets
in Europe, the US and Asia.
The new UK PR head will be responsible for devising and implementing
proactive campaigns to enhance perceptions of BT in the UK, and
programmes on major UK issues. They will be one of a team of around 10
senior managers reporting to McAll.
BT recently appointed a core roster of 12 agencies to share its
estimated pounds 15 million PR budget (PR Week 8 May). They are Band and
Brown Communications, Biss Lancaster, Bite Communications,
Burson-Marsteller, Fishburn Hedges, Freud Communications, JBA PR, Le
