BT is searching to fill a newly-created pounds 80,000 a year post

of head of UK PR campaigns, as part of a move to make its UK

communications more proactive.

The PR campaigns head will report to corporate relations director Brenda

McAll, who oversees around 250 staff working in internal communications,

public affairs, community relations and PR.

The company has two separate PR divisions, one for its UK activities and

the other representing its interests as a group, across its main markets

in Europe, the US and Asia.

The new UK PR head will be responsible for devising and implementing

proactive campaigns to enhance perceptions of BT in the UK, and

programmes on major UK issues. They will be one of a team of around 10

senior managers reporting to McAll.

BT recently appointed a core roster of 12 agencies to share its

estimated pounds 15 million PR budget (PR Week 8 May). They are Band and

Brown Communications, Biss Lancaster, Bite Communications,

Burson-Marsteller, Fishburn Hedges, Freud Communications, JBA PR, Le

Fevre, Profile Public Relations, Scope Ketchum, Sinclair Mason and

Spreckley Pittham.
