Key Communications has embarked on the acquisition trail with the

purchase of Target PR and the news that it intends to buy a financial

agency and a healthcare firm.

Key bought Cheltenham-based Target two weeks ago as the 15 year-old

company went into voluntary liquidation. Key has taken on six of its

eight staff, including MD Felicity Read, who will become a divisional

director at Key’s Thame office in December. Key did not assume Target’s

pounds 111,000 liabilities.

All but two of Target’s clients, which include Kraft Jacobs Suchard -

Foodservice, will be taken on by Key, with the remainder being resigned

due to business conflict. Colin Kent, Key’s chief executive, said that

he would keep the Target brand and said that further expansion was

likely.

‘We want to push into the financial and pharmaceutical heathcare sectors

and, by the end of this financial year, our strategic goals are to buy

leading companies in those areas.’
