NEWS: Warner will hire one blockbuster

Warner Home Video is to consolidate PR for the rental and retail launches of its blockbuster movies into a single consultancy.

Warner Home Video is to consolidate PR for the rental and retail

launches of its blockbuster movies into a single consultancy.

The account is expected to be worth at least pounds 200,000 in fees to

the successful public relations agency.

Four firms, including the two incumbents Mathieu Thomas (rental) and

Barlow Cook Associates (retail), have pitched for the account. The other

two agencies in the picture are Lexis PR and Scope Communications.

Warner Home Entertainment is understood to have set aside six figure

public relations budgets for particular video launches.

Movies to be released soon include Heat, Ace Ventura When Nature Calls,

Under Siege 2 and Species.

The pitching agencies have been asked to submit projected fees for the

account. A decision on the contract will be made in the next few weeks.

‘We’ve gone through the pitch process and we’re finalising which

direction to take,’ said Warner Home Video director and general manager

marketing Wayne Borg.

‘We’re looking to get the best possible out of our agencies and one way

we can do that is consolidation.’

Warner also retains Peter Noble PR for the ‘specialist’ work on its

science fiction label Beyond Vision and horror label Terror Vision.

Peter Noble’s position will be largely unchanged as a result of the

consolidation although it is to take on more work from Warner, including

PR for its Elite range of art-house and classic titles.
